Belinda Miller is Head of Economic and Environmental Sustainability, Aberdeen City Council and Member of the Sustainable Scotland Network. This service takes the strategic approach to ensuring quality of life - for Economic Development, Sustainable Development, Culture and Leisure. Current areas of work include climate change and the potential for renewable energy and technology, economic diversification and the development of a Regional Sports Facility. Belinda previously worked for the Authority's Chief Executive as the Sustainability Co-ordinator. Her focus has been on climate change alongside procurement, resource efficiency, waste management and corporate responsibility. She was the official Scottish Local Government delegate to the World Summit for Sustainable Development in 2001. Originally from Ireland, Belinda has lived in Scotland since 1991. This one day networking event was aimed at individuals and organisations working within the public sector in Scotland. Sustainable development is now a well established element of public sector services, and is imbedded in the Local Government Act 2003. Aberdeen is considered as one of the local authorities that have implemented a range of sustainable development initiatives. It also examines learning points - including gaining senior manager support. This one day networking event was aimed at individuals and organisations working within the public sector in Scotland.
